What materials are for
Equip a suitable tool and use a nearby resource prompt. A Stone Axe can chop mature trees, while a starter Stick has more limited gathering uses. Collected materials are stored in Backpack.
Strike animations, sounds, and visible wear provide feedback while gathering.

Underwater gathering
Seaweed is gathered underwater. Swim within range of its collection prompt to interact. The oxygen display shows your remaining breath.

Explore to encounter other resources. Check the item name and crafting menu to understand a material’s use. Availability can change as the game develops.
